Description: Avec le changement des conditions climatiques, le trafic maritime le long des régions côtières du Canada a augmenté au cours des dernières décennies. Il est donc essentiel d’améliorer notre niveau de préparation aux situations d’urgence liées aux déversements d’hydrocarbures. Des informations de base, telles que la forme, le substrat et le type de végétation du littoral sont nécessaires pour prioriser et coordonner les activités d’intervention sur le terrain en cas de déversement (c.-à-d. la technique d’évaluation et de restauration des rives [TERR]) et fournir des informations pour la gestion de la faune et des écosystèmes.
Entre 2011 et 2016, de la vidéographie et des photos géoréférencées à haute résolution ont été recueillies pour divers sites d’étude le long de la côte est. Les zones d’étude comprennent le Labrador, la baie de Fundy et Chedabucto Bay dans la région atlantique du Canada.
Les données ont été recueillies dans des conditions sans glace et à marée basse (le cas échéant) entre juillet et septembre. Des relevés à basse altitude héliportés ont été effectués sur chaque site d’étude pour capturer une vidéo des caractéristiques du littoral. En plus de l’acquisition de la vidéographie, des observations au sol ont été enregistrées à plusieurs endroits pour validation.
La segmentation du littoral a ensuite été réalisée par interprétation manuelle de la vidéographie oblique et des photos à l’aide de données auxiliaires. Pour ce faire, les vecteurs du littoral ont été divisé et classé en fonction de l’homogénéité de la zone intertidale supérieure. Des informations géomorphologiques détaillées (c.-à-d. le type de rivage, le substrat, la pente, la hauteur, l’accessibilité, etc.) décrivant les zones intertidales supérieures, intertidales inférieures, supratidales et arrières ont été extraites de la vidéo et entrées dans une base de données géospatiale à l’aide d’un formulaire de collecte de données personnalisé. En outre, des caractéristiques biologiques telles que les biobandes, les caractéristiques de l’eau, la faune, l’utilisation humaine, etc. observées le long de la côte ont été enregistrées.
Les données ont également été validées par des observations au sol (lorsque possible) et une deuxième AQ (analyse de qualité) a été effectuée par un interprète différent sur chaque ensemble de données pour assurer une qualité et une cohérence élevée.
L’ensemble de données final contient des segments d’une longueur de 150 à 2500 m. Au total, de 2011 à 2016, dans les 3 sites d’étude, environ 1 850 km de littoraux ont été segmentés.
